Losing Weight And Getting Back In Shape

My deciding factor to finally lose weight was because of the fact that I could not keep up with my everyday activities. I was always feeling sluggish and I was having a hard time moving around. I was always out of breath. Of course, I was also looking kind of old and I thought that was really depressing. I was basically 30 lbs. overweight when I decided that enough is enough.

The first thing I did was get on a regular workout schedule. I chose to jog on my treadmill for 30 minutes a day. I would do this in the morning and in the evening while watching some television shows. But soon after each workout, I would find myself eating. You see, I thought that exercise was enough but it was not. At my age, it was really not enough.

So the second thing I did was change my breakfast food. For years, I would really feast on my breakfast meals. Surely, some people vouched that we could eat like a king in the morning and a pauper in the evening. In my case, I was eating like a king in the morning, afternoon, and evening. So the second thing I did was change my breakfast menu. I started to eat oatmeal and cereals. To my delight, they really did wonders to my bowel movement. One of the reasons why I used to eat a lot in the morning was to regulate my bowel movement. It seemed that the more I ate in the morning, the easier it was for me to go. But I had to fill myself up with that old method. With oatmeal and cereals, I didn’t have to stuff myself in the morning. After a while, my body adjusted well to oatmeal and cereals.

As I was getting used to my new breakfast meals, I went on to enhance the rest of my menus for lunch and dinner. So the third thing I did was to lessen the carbohydrates in my menu. Since I was a bread lover, I had to decide to stay away from it. No more bologna sandwiches for me, which for years was my staple “go to” easy to prepare meal. Mayonnaise was also a done deal. Mayonnaise with my bologna sandwich was my staple food and this really had to go. I had to cut down on potatoes and pasta and went for really smaller portions as much as possible.

The fourth thing I did was to increase my jogging time. I read somewhere that some famous movie star who looks well-toned for her age would spend two hours to do some cardio exercises. While I am not so sure if she does it everyday or how many times a week, I decided to do it every day. I would jog on my treadmill one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening. This is easier to do while watching some television shows.

After just a couple of days of increasing my jogging time, I was beginning to see some great changes. I was beginning to feel lighter. My pants were a little lose. Although I have not dropped a lot of weight, my point is I have dropped some pounds and that is the most important thing for me right now. The mere fact that I am finally doing something about my weight is a very good start. I think I have adjusted pretty well to my healthier routine that I am willing to stay on it for a very long time.
